How It Works
From a bag of clothes to a piece worth keeping.
Four steps, and no obligation until you are certain. Here is exactly what happens when you commission a piece from Moement.
Tell us the story
Send us a message about the clothes you have, and what you would like them to become. There is no obligation and no wrong answer.
Send your garments
We talk through what is possible with the fabric you have, agree a design and a timeframe, then arrange for your garments to reach us.
We design and make
Fabric is unpicked, stabilised, cut and composed by hand. Usable cloth is fully repurposed; scraps are kept back for other pieces.
Loved again
Your piece comes home to you — a keepsake to use, to keep, or to pass on. The memory carries on, and so does the material.
The detail
Tell us the story
Send us a message with roughly how many garments you have, what they are, and what you would like them to become. Attach a photo if you can — it speeds everything up.
- No obligation at all
- Honest assessment of what is possible
- We will tell you if a piece is not a good fit
Send your garments
We agree a design, a size and a timeframe, then arrange for your garments to reach the studio. Fabric should be clean and dry.
- Quote agreed before anything is cut
- Clear timeframe before you commit
- Nothing is altered until you say go
We design and make
Garments are unpicked, washed, stabilised and cut. Layouts are composed by hand and shared with you before the piece is finally assembled.
- Layout shown to you before sewing
- Made by hand in small batches
- Usable fabric fully repurposed
Loved again
Your finished piece is packed and sent home. What remains of the offcuts is kept back for Everyday Moements rather than discarded.
- Pieces designed to be used
- Care guidance included
- Scraps go on to another life

Before you send
A few things that make it go smoothly.
Wash and dry first
Freshly washed and fully dry. This protects your finished piece and our studio alike.
Do not cut anything
Send garments whole. We decide where the cuts go so that the best details survive.
Flag what matters
Tell us which pieces or details are precious — a collar, a print, a pocket, a label.
Ask about timings
If you need a piece for a date, say so early. We will be honest about whether it is achievable.
Pricing
Priced individually, quoted before you commit.
Every commission uses different fabric and needs a different amount of work, so there is no single price list. What we can promise is a clear quote before anything is cut.
Questions
How many garments will I need to send?
It depends on the size of the piece you would like. As a rough guide, a memory quilt uses a meaningful collection of garments, while a bag or a cushion can be made from considerably less.
Tell us what you have — even if it is only one or two things — and we will tell you honestly what it could become.
What condition do the clothes need to be in?
They do not need to be perfect. Worn patches, small marks and gentle fading are part of the story, and we can often work around them or place them where they will not show.
What we do need is fabric that is clean, dry and free of anything that could affect the finished piece. If you are unsure, send us a photo and we will advise.
How long does a commission take?
Because everything is made by hand, timelines depend on the piece and the fabric. We will give you a clear timeframe as part of your quote, before anything is committed.
If you need a piece for a particular date, tell us early and we will be honest about whether it is achievable.
What does it cost?
Every commission is priced individually, because every commission uses different fabric and needs a different amount of work.
Send us an enquiry with a little detail about what you have in mind and we will come back to you with a quote and options.
Can you work with sentimental or delicate fabrics?
Yes — this is much of what we do. Wedding dresses, baby clothes, uniforms, shirts, ties and knitwear all behave differently, and we handle each accordingly so the finished piece lasts.
Let us know what is precious in the collection, and we will tell you how we would approach it.
Do you only make keepsakes, or can you make new things too?
Both. Golden Moements is for bespoke pieces made from your own garments, and Everyday Moements is for home comforts made from rescued textile waste.
If you have an idea that does not fit neatly into either, tell us anyway.
Still unsure whether it is possible?
Ask anyway. Some of the best pieces we have made started as a vague idea about a pile of clothes in a wardrobe.
Ready
Tell us what you have
Send us a message with a rough idea of the garments and what you would like them to become. We will take it from there.
